In advance of the upcoming Veterans Day holiday, CHEC will illuminate the Buxton office green from November 1-14 as part of Operation Green Light for Veterans, a nationwide effort uniting counties to support military veterans. Dare County and several local towns will also have green lights at facilities including libraries, EMS stations and water departments. The initiative, led by the National Association of Counties (NACo), raises awareness around the unique challenges faced by many veterans and the resources available at the county, state, and federal levels to assist veterans and their families.
In addition to lighting county buildings, bridges, and other meaningful landmarks, residents, businesses and other organizations are encouraged to participate by simply changing one light bulb in their home to a green bulb. This can be an exterior light that neighbors and passersby see, or an interior light that sparks a conversation with friends. By shining a green light, we let our veterans know that they are seen, appreciated, and supported.
As we celebrate Veteran’s Day on November 11, we hope you will join us in recognizing the sacrifices veterans have made to our great country––and the many contributions they continue to make to our wonderful community. To our veterans and active military members, we thank you for your selfless service.
