You can pay by phone anytime by calling 800-454-5616 or 252-995-5616. Our customer service representatives will gladly help you during normal business hours, or you can use our IVR (Interactive Voice Response) system to pay over the phone any time of day, by following the prompts.

Your time and energy are valuable, and we know that paying bills can be a chore. That is why CHEC offers the convenience of Handi-Pay Bank or Credit Card Draft, at no cost to our members.
Why choose Handi-Pay?
Protect your credit rating.
We all have forgotten or overlooked a bill at some point. This can reflect poorly on your credit rating. With Handi-Pay, your bill is paid automatically, on time.
You won't be in the dark.
When you sign up for Handi-Pay, your meter will be read on the same schedule as before. You will receive the same bill each month to show how much electricity you have used and the total amount due.You will have seventeen days to view your bill before your account is automatically drafted. This gives you ample time to contact our office with any questions about your bill.
It's easy to sign up!
Signing up is easy! Log on to your account on our Customer Service Portal and select Bank Draft or Credit Card Draft under the Payments tab or call our office at (252)995-5616. Once you are set up, your bank or credit card company will list the draft amount on your monthly statement so you can keep track of your payments. Before signing up for automatic draft, make sure your current electric bill has been paid.
If at any time you find this method of payment is not right for you, just give us a call. We will promptly remove the draft authorization from your electric account.
Download our mobile app, CHEC Mobile, for your Android or iOS powered mobile device. CHEC Mobile gives you one-touch access to fast, secure account information. Make secure payments, manage your account information, view your bills and manage your alerts and reminders, all at the tip of your finger!
Sign up for Auto-Pay in our Customer Service Portal and choose what date you want to pay your bill each month. Once set up, CHEC will automatically charge your credit card or e-check information on the day that you choose, making bill pay easy and convenient. Members can even set a maximum amount threshold for payments during setup. You can change your AutoPay settings in the Customer Service Portal at any time.
